Myeongdong Shopping Street
Myeongdong is one of the main shopping streets in Seoul. You will find many department stores including the flagship Lotte store which houses several floors dedicated to duty free spending. You’ll find all your favourite designer brands at Myeongdong as well as other fashionable goods.
Approximately 1.5 to 2 million travel through the district of Myeongdong making it one of the busiest spots in South Korea. Myeongdong is also incredibly popular with international visitors in particular from China and Japan during the holiday period known as “Golden Week” where many goods will be available from stores at discounted rates.
As you walk the streets of Myeongdong you will notice countless skincare and cosmetic shops playing loud music in an attempt to encourage shoppers to come in and discover their new favourite cream. Due to the high concentration of these skincare and cosmetic shops you’ll often find unique discounts not available anywhere else in Seoul.
One of the most historically significant sites in Myeongdong is the Myeongdong Cathedral. The Myeongdong Cathedral has significant importance as it was the first catholic church in Korea and is considered an important symbol of Christianity for the country.
