Self-taught architect Tadao Ando is renowned for his awe-inspiring structures across Japan. Renders of Ando’s latest project – which is a penthouse located on 152 Elizabeth Street – have been released to the public.
Anybody familiar with Ando’s work, notably his masterpieces on the Japanese island of Naoshima, will be well versed on the simplistic but unique features in his work.
The 5,600-square-foot penthouse is part of the seven-storey condo building in Manhattan’s Nolita neighbourhood. As seen in the renders, the inside is furnished predominately with stone, steel and glass.
The project is Ando’s first in New York City and the Japanese architects has also featured in a move made about the project where he stated that he wanted to “create something that only a Japanese person could do.”
