It’s national Cappuccino day today and is the perfect day to provide a little more detailed information on the beloved beverage.
First and foremost, Cappuccino should only be drunk before mid-day. It took a recent trip to Rome to realise ordering the milky caffeinated beverage after 12’o clock is equivalent to a cardinal sin in the world of coffee.
In fact, cappuccino’s are rarely enjoyed back in Italy with the majority of the population opting for an Espresso or macchiato.
Another odd quirk to cappuccino outside of Italy is the size of the drink! The perfect cappuccino will consist of 1/3 espresso, 1/3 hot milk and 1/3 foamed milk. However, take a trip to your local Starbucks / Costa and your be served something closer to a Latte than an actual cappuccino!
With that off my chest, it’s time to enjoy a …. cappuccino!
